Florian Angert, world number 8, joins Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria’s only international triathlon, the Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria, will be held on Saturday 22 April with the Olympic distance and the middle distance.

Anfi del Mar, Mogán, 6 March 2023. – German triathlete Florian Angert joins the Anfi Challenge Mogán 2023, raising the level of the competition which already has 40 professionals on the start line.

Ranked number 8 in the world in the PTO Ranking, Florian Angert has a successful sporting career. The athlete is 30 years old and has a brilliant track record, as runner-up in the WT Long Distance Championships in 2022 and third in the IronMan 70.3 in Lanzarote. In addition, in 2021 he crossed the finish line as runner-up in Ironman Mallorca and won the Challenge Samorin World Championship.

In his career he has also been on the podium as a champion at IronMan Barcelona, Prague, Ironman 70.3 Ruegen and Sweden, among others. He is often seen in the Canary Islands, a destination he frequents for training, Florien Angert will be one of the professional triathletes to beat in the Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria on 22 April 2023, a race that faces its last month until the race with more than 300 entries.

Australian Aaron Royle, Sebi Neef, Belgian Pieter Heemeryck and German Andy Dreitz, among others, have already confirmed their registration for the Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria, as well as Alexandra Tondeur, Elisabetta Curridori, Charlene Clavel and Megan McDonald in the women’s category.

The only international triathlon in Gran Canaria

The Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria Triathlon is once again one of the sporting events on the calendar, the first in the professional calendar for triathletes and also suitable for prepared participants. This is the only international triathlon in Gran Canaria, which takes in some of the most attractive training and competition points for triathletes, such as the beach of Anfi del Mar, Balito, the cycling route along the road to Taurito, among others.

Anfi del Mar, with an average temperature of 22 degrees Celsius and the most sunny days in Europe, will be the centre of the world triathlon on 22 April 2023, putting Gran Canaria on the international triathlon map as a privileged winter-spring destination for outdoor sport.
